Contracts on the financing of two major projects from the new investment cycle in infrastructure, the construction of Preljina-Pozega highway on Corridor 11 and the modernization and reconstruction of the Belgrade-Budapest fast-track section from Novi Sad to Subotica were signed today in Beijing.

The loan agreements for these projects with the Chinese Eksim Bank were signed by Minister of Finance, Sinisa Mali, and the signing ceremony was attended by the Presidents of Serbia and the People's Republic of China, Aleksandar Vucic and Xi Jinping.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, prof. Zorana Mihajlovic PhD., said that the section Novi Sad - Subotica is the third section of Belgrade-Budapest highway line in the territory of Serbia, 108.2 km long, for which the commercial contract was signed last year with a consortium of Chinese companies "China Communications Construction Company" (CCCC) and "China Railway International", worth $ 1.16 billion. "For this section, technical documentation has been prepared for the most part, and we expect that works will start at the end of the year, which will last for about two and a half years," said Mihajlovic, who is on an official visit to China, as part of a state delegation led by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.

The section of Preljina-Pozega is 30.9 kilometers long, and the value of the works, to be carried out by the Chinese company " China Communications Construction Company " (CCCC), is 450 million euros.

"Preparations are under way on this section, the state has completed expropriation, has prepared technical documentation, camps are made near Lucani. By signing the financial contract, conditions are created to start construction work. At the beginning of the year, the sections from Obrenovac to Preljina, 103 kilometers long, will be released into traffic. By the end of the year we will finish the section Surcin-Obrenovac, and we will start parallelly the construction of the continuation of this highway from Cacak to Pozega, "Mihajlovic said.

She stressed that this highway is important not only for the faster development of Western Serbia and the connection of this region with Belgrade, but also for connecting Serbia with the region. " Near Pozega , the highway Belgrade-Sarajevo and Corridor 11 towards Montenegro, will intersect, while through Cacak, along the Moravian corridor, Corridor 11 with Corridor 10 will be connected, Mihajlovic said.

In the presence of the two Presidents, the Bilateral Cooperation Plan between the Government of Serbia and the Government of the People's Republic of China was signed as part of the "Belt and Road" initiative, which, among other, implies further improvement of cooperation in the field of infrastructure construction, including roads, railways, airports, inland waterways, intermodal transport and traffic safety management.
