Mihajlovic at the beginning of works on the construction of a fast road that will connect Valjevo with "Milos the Great"

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Prof. Zorana Mihajlovic, phD, attended today, together with the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, the celebration of the beginning of works on the construction of the fast road Lajkovac-Iverak.

Chen Bo, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Serbia, and Zhang Jianchao, General Director of the Chinese company "Shandong", also attended the celebration of the beginning of the works.

On this occasion, Mihajlovic stated that Serbia today is a different country than it was a few years ago, primarily because of the large infrastructure projects that have been completed.

"By building a fast road that will connect Valjevo with the highway "Milos the Great", we have fulfilled another promise we gave to all the people of Valjevo. "We continue to build Serbia in which nothing is far away," she said.

President Vucic said that with the completion of the project, Valjevo will get an extraordinary fast road, as well as that this project will regulate Kolubara river bed.

"From Valjevo to Belgrade will arrive in less than an hour, new investors will come to Valjevo, there will be new jobs. Each new result requires new efforts. And today's results can be measured and compared with those from before and those from the future. Our goal is to bring people back to Valjevo and Kolubara district, which has gained many new paths. In two and a half years, we will go to Valjevo by highway. Long live Valjevo, long live Serbia!” said Vucic.

An integral part of this project is the complete arrangement of the river Kolubara and watercourses, which will prevent further flooding of this part of Serbia.

The total length of the section is 18.3 km, there will be 25 facilities, 2.5 km of bridges and one loop on the route. The financier of the project is the Government of the Republic of Serbia, the investor is "Roads of Serbia", and the works will be performed by the Chinese company "Shandong".
