Mihajlovic: More than 3,500 workers on construction sites of infrastructure projects in Serbia

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, prof. Zorana Mihajlovic PhD, said today that more than 3,500 workers were hired on the construction sites of the largest projects of road and railway infrastructure, communal infrastructure, road rehabilitation and construction of apartments for the security forces in Serbia, and the works are being carried out with the implementation of all measures envisaged for the control of infectious disease COVID-19.

“As the Ministry, we have recommended that all investors do their best to maintain the level of activity on construction sites in the implementation of infrastructure projects, and all investors are obliged to provide workers with all necessary protection against viruses, in accordance with the decisions of the Government of Serbia. A big thank you to all the companies and all the workers who continue to work in difficult conditions, and we are here to give them every kind of support and to solve all the problems they face together, ”says Mihajlovic.

She added that the total value of the infrastructure projects that 3,531 workers were hired yesterday is € 2.6 billion, and that the total length of roads and railway lines on which the works are carried out, including rehabilitation of state roads, is about 520 kilometers.

The number of workers is in line with the phase in which the works are located, with the largest number of workers, 919 in total, working on Tuesday on the construction of a section of the fast railway track from Stara Pazova to Novi Sad.

At this construction site, where the works are performed by the Russian Railways, there are also 272 mechanization units. The second section of Belgrade-Budapest high speed railway line, from Belgrade to Stara Pazova, where contractors from the Chinese CCCC and China Railway International contracted 613 workers yesterday, with 196 mechanization units.

On the bypass around Belgrade, on the section under construction from Ostruznica to Bubanj Potok, where the main contractor is Chinese company Power China, yesterday there were 343 workers and 81 units of machinery, while on the section of the highway "Milos the Great" from Pozega to Preljina , where the contractor is the Chinese company CCCC, performed the works by 70 workers, with 29 machinery units present.

Yesterday, 51 workers worked at the construction site of Morava Corridor, ie Pojate-Preljina highway, where the main contractor is a consortium of Bechtel and Enka companies.

The construction of Belgrade-Sarajevo highway section, from Sremska Raca to Kuzmin, currently employs 88 workers from the Turkish company Tasyapi, 9 works from home, and 58 construction machinery are on construction site. At the second construction site of the same company, 48 workers and 25 mechanization units were engaged in the reconstruction of the state road Novi Pazar - Tutin.

On the section of railway line of Corridor 10, from Jajinci to Mala Krsna, contracted by the French company Colas and Serbian Energoprojekt, works are performed by a total of 85 workers with 10 mechanization units.

On the sections of state roads undergoing rehabilitation under the State Roads Rehabilitation and Traffic Safety Improvement Project, a total of 667 workers performed works yesterday.

In addition, a total of 446 workers were engaged in the construction of apartments for the security forces in several cities in Serbia, while 192 workers worked on projects in communal infrastructure managed by the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure.
