Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, prof. Zorana Mihajlovic PhD., signed today in Beijing several agreements on cooperation between Serbia and the People's Republic of China for the realization of projects in road and rail transport.

She also signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation for the implementation of the construction of the bypass around Belgrade, Bubanj potok - Pancevo section, with the consortium of the Chinese company "Power China " and the Azerbaijani "Azvirt".

"In order for Serbia to take full advantage of its position as a transit country, we need to complete the reconstruction and modernization of the entire railway Corridor 10, which will make Serbia an inevitable part of the strategic direction of the transport corridor from Port Piraeus to Central Europe. It is also important that the construction of the bypass around Belgrade, from Bubanj potok to Pancevo, continues, so that the freight railway transport is diverted out of the city center and that enables the development of new industrial zones and logistics centers around the bypass, "Mihajlovic said.

In addition to these three memorandums, Mihajlovic signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in connection with the realization of the project "Belgrade Metro" with Xiong Lixin, Executive Vice President of "Power China ".

According to her words, the signed memorandums will enable the continuation of works on the preparation for the implementation of the construction of Fruska Gora Corridor, as well as the commencement of joint work on project documentation, spatial plans and the financing model for Belgrade Metro project. "When it comes to the bypass around Belgrade, we are doing Section B of the bypass with the companies" Power China "and" Azvirt ", and the memorandum that we signed today is for Section C, from Bubanj potok to Pancevo, and is the first step in the construction of the bypass. The value of this project is estimated at about half a billion euros, "Mihajlovic said.

Deputy Prime Minister pointed out that all the loans that Serbia takes for important infrastructure projects is received as the so-called “preferential loans”, which means under the most favorable conditions not only in terms of interest rate, but also on the repayment period and the length of the grace period. " Other countries of Southeastern Europe no longer have such conditions, what was the fund for preferential loans is still only used by Serbia. Of course, for some projects we will also discuss other ways of financing, among other things, for the projects of Pozega-Boljare highway, for the project of Belgrade Metro, and Section C bypass around Belgrade, "added Mihajlovic.

In addition to signing the agreement, Deputy Prime Minister also had several meetings with Chinese companies that are implementing infrastructure projects in Serbia, among which are the companies “China Road and Bridge Corporation” and “Power Construction Company of China”.
