Mihajlovic: We are building new 400 km of highways

"By the end of 2025, Serbia will have the most kilometers of motorways in the region, more than Croatia, with which we are often compared to. The new investment cycle "Serbia 2025" is worth 14 billion euros and refers to both transport, communal, social and energy infrastructure, which is a condition for people to stay in Serbia," said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Traffic and Infrastructure, prof. Zorana Mihajlovic PhD, this morning.

She pointed out that Serbia is starting construction of 400 kilometers of new roads, while appearing on the morning program of TV Prva.


"In March, we begin construction of the highway to connect Valjevo with Milos the Great; we are also beginning the construction of Fruska Gora Corridor worth 600 million euros, we will complete the documentation for the new Vozd Karadjordje highway, as well as the documentation for Nis-Presevo ​​railway. In addition, the construction of a high-speed railway line from Novi Sad to Subotica will begin, as well as the reconstruction of Bar railway from Valjevo to the border with Montenegro,” she said.

Mihajlovic reminded that works are already being carried out on the section of "Milos the Great" highway from Cacak to Pozega, as well as on Morava Corridor, and that documentation for the section from Pozega to Boljare will be completed this year.

"Documentation for Pozega-Boljare alone costs € 50 million, when it is finished we will discuss ways of financing, because this section will cost approximately € 2 billion. Also, over the next three years we will rehabilitate 5,000 regional and local roads,” Mihajlovic said.

Deputy Prime Minister stressed that after 40 years, Serbia has invested a lot in railway traffic, and that in the autumn of 2021, it will take 25 minutes to travel by train from Belgrade to Novi Sad.
