The significance of the project:

The planned bypass around Novi Sad, with a bridge over the Danube on the route of state road IIA class No. 111, will provide a connection to state road IIA class No. 119 (State border with Croatia — border crossing Neštin – Beočin – Sremska Kamenica), and further to state road IB class No. 21, Novi Sad – Ruma – Šabac – Loznica – eastern parts of the Republic of Srpska. The most recently constructed section of state road IIA-111 (Odžaci – Ratkovo – Silbaš – Bački Petrovac – Rumenka – Novi Sad) runs along Bulevar Evrope Street. The planned extension of state road IIA-111 continues southward from Bulevar Evrope and includes the construction of a bridge over the Danube, establishing a direct connection between the urban road network of Novi Sad and Sremska Kamenica. This infrastructure will ensure linkage with state road IIA-119 (State Border with Croatia – border crossing Neštin – Beočin – Sremska Kamenica), and further with state road IB-21 (Novi Sad – Irig – Ruma – Šabac – Koceljeva – Valjevo – Kosjerić – Požega – Arilje – Ivanjica – Sjenica), facilitating regional connectivity. As defined in existing planning documentation, the bridge and its approach roads are designed to support mixed traffic, including passenger vehicles, public transport (buses), selectively regulated freight transport, as well as pedestrian and bicycle traffic. In addition, the structure will enable the crossing of all planned utility and infrastructure systems over the Danube. On a local scale, the planned bridge will serve as the shortest and most efficient link between the neighborhoods of Liman, Telep, and Ribarsko Ostrvo with Sremska Kamenica. The constructed roads on the site constitute an enhancement of the local transport infrastructure.

Status of the project:

For the Main Bridge over the Danube (Section 1 – Phase 1), a construction permit has been obtained, while the permitting process is ongoing for the bridge spanning the terrain from Bulevar Evrope to the Main Bridge over the Danube (Section 1 – Phase 2). On the bypass route, piling and pile cap works have been completed, while cofferdam installation, pier construction, and pier cap works on the main bridge are currently in progress. The level of physical completion stands at 7%.

Investment value:

The contracted value of the works amounts to 175,500,000 euros.

Source of finance:

According to the loan agreement with the Chinese Export-Import Bank, 15% of the investment will be financed from the budget of the Republic of Serbia, while 85% will be covered by the loan.
