General Master Plan for Transport in the Republic of Serbia 2009–2027.- Agreement on Economic and Technical Cooperation in the Field of Infrastructure between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the People's Republic of China.Contractual Agreement for the Project of Construction of the New Bridge over the Sava River at the Site of the Old Bridge in Belgrade. - Direct contracting based on the intergovernmental agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the People’s Republic of China.
The primary role of the new bridge is to increase the traffic capacity connecting the Srem and Šumadija parts of the city, as well as to introduce traffic flows within the area covered by the Spatial Plan for the Special Purpose Arrangement of part of the Belgrade waterfront — the Sava River waterfront area for the “Belgrade Waterfront” project. In the area of project implementation, almost all types of traffic and traffic subsystems intersect and intertwine, which is especially prominent on the right bank of the Sava River. The primary street network of the area consists of first-class state roads (motorways and main roads), as well as first- and second-class streets, while the secondary network includes access roads and local streets.
Preparatory works for the dismantling and demolition of the old bridge structure are currently underway. The Construction Permit Design (PGD) has been completed, and the construction permit has been obtained. The Execution Design (PZI) for the bridge and access roads is currently being prepared.
The estimated cost for the preparation of project documentation for the demolition of the old bridge and construction of the new bridge with access roads amounts to 94.1 million euros.
The budget of the Republic of Serbia covers 15% of the investment, while 85% is financed through a loan from the “China Export & Credit Insurance Corporation.”
The bridge is 420 meters long and supported by 6 pillars. The main span of the bridge structure is 166 meters, with symmetrical side spans measuring 73 meters and 54 meters, spanning over the required navigational clearance of 150 meters. The width of the bridge is 38 meters, and at the pedestrian lookout points, it is 42 meters. Two-way tram traffic is positioned in the middle of the bridge, with a minimum width of 8 meters. Two-way road traffic with two carriageways, each 6.5 meters wide per direction (the right traffic lane is 3.5 meters wide and the left traffic lane is 3 meters wide). Pedestrian and bicycle paths are provided on both sides, with one-way bicycle traffic planned, each path being 3.3 meters wide.
