The significance of the project: 

The Niš – Brestovac railway (part of the railway Belgrade – Niš – Preševo – state border with North Macedonia) belongs to the southern part of the Pan-European Corridor X and is of great relevance to the regional and international transport. The objective of this Project is development of railway infrastructure on this section for the speed of 120 km/h, as well as integration of the most important international railway of the Pan-European Corridor X through Serbia, which includes the section Niš – Brestovac.

 

Status of the project: 

The Construction Permit Design (CDP) is being developed by the Contractor.

 

Investment value: 

The total value of this Project in accordance with the Contract is 59.9 million EUR (44,076,000 EUR (EU funds (IPA 2015)) and 15,774,000 (national budget)).

 

Start of the project: 

Commencement of works is expected in Q3 2021.

 

Completion of the project: 

The works are to be completed in 33 months (in Q1 2024).

Source of finance: 

The Project is funded by grants from the IPA 2015 fund (85%) and the budget of the Republic of Serbia (15%).

Project description: 

The Project includes reconstruction and modernisation of the railway substructure and superstructure, certain station tracks and platforms and railway crossings, reconstruction and modernisation of power lines (contact network) and electricity supply system, reconstruction and modernisation of signalling and safety and telecommunication installations, as well as bridges and culverts, roadway and station waterproofing and drainage systems.
